installation

Cogan’s wall installations unravel the boundaries of the picture plane. Embroidered figures drift across vintage linens and spill onto the wall itself, where threads extend like drawn lines into open space. Lace, doilies, and repurposed textiles once tied to domestic labor are reimagined as part of a living, breathing environment.

These works stage encounters between past and present: the intimate memory of fabric made and used by unknown hands, and the unruly immediacy of contemporary gesture. Figures appear playful yet vulnerable, sensual yet fragile, suspended between humor and unease. Shadows, loose threads, and protruding objects transform still images into immersive narratives that seem to grow beyond their borders.

Cogan’s practice transforms inherited materials into sites of dialogue between tradition and reinvention, craft and art, fragility and resilience inviting viewers to step into stories that resist containment.
